Where Physiotherapy meets Reformer Pilates

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility, balance, posture, and body awareness. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it was originally designed to support rehabilitation and improve physical conditioning. Today, Pilates is widely used for both fitness and injury recovery, helping people move better and feel stronger. Reformer Pilates uses specialised equipment to provide adjustable resistance and support, making it suitable for all abilities and an effective tool for improving strength, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Physio-led Reformer Pilates combines the principles of traditional Pilates with the expertise of a qualified physiotherapist. Using the Reformer machine, exercises can be tailored to your individual needs, whether you're recovering from injury, managing pain, improving strength, or looking to enhance athletic performance. Unlike a standard Pilates class, every exercise is informed by a detailed understanding of anatomy, movement, injury, and rehabilitation, ensuring you are working safely and effectively towards your goals.

The Reformer's adjustable spring resistance provides both support and challenge, making it suitable for people at all stages of their movement journey. It can help improve strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and body awareness, while allowing exercises to be adapted to accommodate injuries, physical limitations, or specific rehabilitation needs.

Why 1:1?

A 1:1 physio-led Reformer Pilates session offers a completely personalised approach to your exercise and rehabilitation. Unlike a small group class, every session is tailored specifically to your goals, injury history, movement patterns, and current ability. With the full attention of a physiotherapist, exercises can be adapted in real time, ensuring correct technique, appropriate progression, and a programme that meets your individual needs. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing pain, returning to exercise after surgery or pregnancy, or looking to improve strength and mobility, 1:1 sessions provide a focused, bespoke experience designed to help you achieve the best possible results safely and effectively.
